Metabolism Myths

We tend to blame metabolism for weight gain.  To help clear up the confusion I have researched and discovered facts about our metabolism mystery and how we can use this to our advantage to reaching our health and fitness goals.

1. Skipping meals slows down metabolism
The important factors about this is, is the quantity and quality of the foods we consume.  Eating multiple times a day of small amounts of food can stop your cravings and you will tend to become less hungry through out the day.  This does not mean eat take outs 6 times a day, it means eat healthy - 6 times a day - small portions.
This will keep your metabolism working at all times, which is what we want

2. Yes skinnier people have higher metabolisms (aren't we all surprised)
They appear to eat whatever they want and never gain any weight, some are just lucky I guess, unfair but whatever.
According to Dr. Yoni Freedhoff,
Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa, “Skinny individuals almost invariably have slower resting metabolisms; there is literally less of them to burn while at rest.” As a result, larger individuals usually have a higher metabolism (that is they burn more calories at rest) than their thinner counterparts.

3. You can control it
To help ramp up your metabolism you can do this through weight lifting.  Here's other easy ways to burn up your calories:
Gulp down on a lot of water - cleanses out your toxens inside your body and flushes out fat, you'll be going to the bathroom like craze

Sleep more - It is proven that people that gets longer sleep than others, tends to burn more fat while sleeping and this also effects your metabolism

Yes caffeine! - Caffeine burns calories too.  It is only bad for you if you put in all those sweet sugars and cream!! Try having a pure cup of coffee

Protein - Has a profound impact on your metabolism.  It has a higher energy expenditure at rest and is a extremely important source for building muscle
